WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Meta Company, has stopped support for various older models of iPhones and Android phones.
Effective October 24, WhatsApp support has been stopped on Android phones with Android 4.4 KitKat and older operating systems, as well as iPhones running iOS 10 and iOS 11. Along with this, WhatsApp will no longer work on Android phones and iPhones with old operating systems.
According to WhatsApp, support for older operating systems has been stopped to focus on the latest operating systems.
WhatsApp’s official blog post reads – Every year, like other tech companies, we look at which devices and software are the oldest and least used by people to decide what to stop supporting. Those devices do not have the latest and updated security updates and also lack the necessary functionality to run WhatsApp.
According to WhatsApp, the list of smartphones whose support has been stopped since October 24 is as follows:
