The Pakistan team’s performance in the ongoing ICC ODI Cricket World Cup in India is very disappointing. The possibility of the Pakistani team returning home from the first round of the World Cup seems strong.
After all, why did Inzamam, the chief selector, unexpectedly resign from his position when the World Cup was going on? Inzamam, who was actually an influential player of his time, has been accused of selecting the team out of selfishness while selecting the team for the World Cup.
Supporters and the media have been constantly making such accusations against Inzamam. In particular, “Saya Corporation” is a sports management company of Pakistan. This company has been promoting many players of the Pakistani team.
The current captain of Pakistan team, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Yasir Shah, Haider Ali and other influential players are also associated with this sports management company.
Most of the players promoted by this sports management company have also got a place in the Pakistani team participating in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup in India. It has been alleged that Inzamam is also involved in this sports management company.
Inzamam, who is also the chief selector of the Pakistani team, has been accused of giving priority to the players of the sports management company he is involved in while selecting the team for the World Cup.
The current chief executive officer of this sports management company is Talha Rahmani. First, a sports journalist from Pakistan, Ablul Ghaffar, accused Inzamam’s involvement in this company through social media.
On the one hand, the continuous poor performance of the Pakistan team in the World Cup, on the other hand, such a serious accusation against the chief selector. It was natural for Pakistani cricket fans to be outraged. As the anger of the supporters increased, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also forced to show interest in this matter.
Some Pakistani media have alleged that even some officials of PCB are involved in this sports management company. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf also questioned Inzamam about the same issue.
Inzamam resigned from the post of Chief Selector after meeting PCB Chairman Ashraf. Inzamam has been claiming that he has no involvement with the sports management company ‘Saya Corporation’.
The accusation against me is baseless. I have no affiliation with Saya Corporation. I resigned to facilitate the investigation of the allegations against me. If the allegations are not confirmed, I can return to my post,” said Inzamam in a conversation with the Pakistani media.
Inzamam is an influential batsman of his time. The 53-year-old Inzamam played cricket for the country for 16 years. He played the last Test of his playing career against South Africa in 2007. He scored a total of 8,830 runs in 120 Tests with the help of 25 centuries.
